CONFERENCE >
Message from Co-Chair of ICRT |

 |
This is the first Responsible Tourism conference
in Arabia. I am delighted that Her Excellency Dr. Rajiha Abdul
Amir has invited us to Oman for our 2010 annual conference and I
look forward to co-chairing the conference with her. Omani
hospitality is legendary and you can be sure of a warm welcome.
Oman has a wealth of diverse cultural and natural heritage to
share: • make sure that you take advantage of the specially
arranged pre- and
post-conference tours to explore this richly
diverse and fascinating country. |
Oman is developing a national Responsible Tourism policy on
which the next five-year plan for tourism development will be
based. The Oman conference will provide an opportunity to learn
about the process and their policy.
This is the 4th International Conference on Responsible Tourism
in Destinations and this year we are focusing on Oman and the
Middle East, as well as reviewing progress in Responsible
Tourism around the world over the last year.
The 2005 Muscat Declaration on Built
Environments for Sustainable Tourism has informed policy in Oman and been influential
internationally. This conference breaks new ground in addressing
the broader Responsible Tourism agenda, and applying the
Cape
Town Declaration principles,
to Oman. I hope that you will join us.
